The information on this page represents the current plan for Spring 2019 Softball leagues. These are subject to change and may be adjusted or modified per season. These explanations should help you understand which leagues your girls will or can play in.
Softball is open to girls 4-16 years old.
The following table shows how age will be determined in 2020, by birth year and month.

Team Formation
Tee Ball Softball
Hit from tee. Not competitive. 10 games. No playoffs. 1 practice per week.
At least 4 years old as of and no older than 6 years old girls as of 12/31/2019. No evaluations.
School, neighborhood.
Instructional Softball
A combination of hitting from tee and coach pitch. Not competitive. 10-12 games. No playoffs. 1 practice per week. Intertown occasionally on Saturday.
Game days: Wednesday
At least 7 years old and no older than 8 years old girls as of 12/31/2019. No evaluations.
School, neighborhood.
Minors Softball
Player pitch, with coach as back-up- no walks. Pitching distance of 35 feet. Stealing is allowed (except for home). Moderately competitive. 10-12 games plus playoffs. 1-2 practices per week.
Game days are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday
At least 8 years old and no older than 10 years old girls as of 12/31/2019. 8 year olds must demonstrate adequate skill to qualify.
School, even distribution of skill positions, neighborhood.
Majors Softball
Player pitch. Pitching distance of 40 feet. Highly competitive. 12-14 games plus playoffs. 1-2 practice per week. Intertown with Fairport and Penfield.
Game days: Tues and Thurs. Occ intraleague Sat
At least 10 years old and no older than 12 years old girls as of 12/31/2019. A small number of 10 year olds may be drafted based on need and skill level. 10 year olds who are not drafted will play Minors.
New players to majors may need evaluation. Returning players from an existing team are exempted from evaluations.
Draft.
Seniors Softball
Player pitch. Pitching distance of 43 feet. Moderately to highly competitive. 14 games plus playoffs. 1 practice per week. Games are intertown.
13-16 years old as of 12/31/2019. No evaluations.
Draft and/or balanced by the GM.
Travel Softball
There will be one 10U team, one 12U team, and a 14U teamwith more competitive play and rules, similar to summer tournament. Practices 1-2x per week beginning in March. Games played May-July. All games are intertown.
12U: Two weekend tournaments, two single-day tournaments and the Victor League (Thursdays). Potential for additional midweek intertown games in July.
10U: Two single-day and one or two weekend tournaments and the Victor League (Mondays). Potential for additional midweek intertown games in July.
All players must tryout, be selected, and play on a PLL regular-season spring team.
