Spring League Listings by Age
This page is intended to help you determine which Spring league(s) you may play in, based on your school grade or "Little League" age. For 2014, "Little League" age is your child's age on 4/30/2014 for baseball, or 12/31/2013 for softball. Baseball is open to both boys and girls; softball is girls only. This information is current as of Spring 2014.

Baseball
Baseball is available to boys and girls who are pre-k to 16 years old. In our baseball leagues, for the younger kids, we organize the leagues by grade. You can
read more about why we do this. For kids 9 and up, we organize by age and skill-level. There is some overlap between our grade-based system and age-based system in 3rd grade (9 year olds, primarily), so if you fall into this category, read about each one.

Pre-K
Tee Ball
Kids are considered "Pre-K" if they are at least 4 years old by 11/30/2013 and not in Kindergarten. They can play Teeball Baseball. There may be separate Pre-K and K leagues.
Kindergarten
Tee Ball
Kids who are in Kindergarten will play Teeball Baseball. There may be separate Pre-K and K leagues.
1st Grade
Instructional Coach Pitch
Kids who are in 1st grade will ordinarily play Instructional Coach Pitch Baseball, which is the next step up from Teeball and is made up almost entirely of 1st graders.
Tee Ball
By exception a 1st grader may instead be allowed to play Teeball with Kindergartners.?
2nd Grade
Instructional Machine Pitch
Kids who are in 2nd grade will ordinarily play Instructional Machine Pitch Baseball, which is the next step up from Coach Pitch and is made up primarily of 7-8 year olds in 2nd and 3rd grade, with some 9 year olds.
Single A
Alternatively, any 2nd grader who is at least 8 years old can
try out for the more competitive Single A league (kid pitch), which is made up of 8-9 year olds and is the next step up from Machine Pitch. Evaluations are required for any 8 year old who wants to play Single A. Evaluations are held in March. Any 8 year who is not chosen for Single A will play Machine Pitch.??
Instructional Coach Pitch
By exception a 2nd grader may instead be allowed to play in the Instructional Coach Pitch league with 1st graders.
9U Travel
Additionally, any 8 year old can try out for the highly competitive 9U Travel Team. The Travel team is
in addition to the regular "house" (Single A) team.? Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
3rd Grade (and not yet 9 years old)
Instructional Machine Pitch
Kids who are in 3rd grade and
not yet 9 years old will ordinarily play Instructional Machine Pitch Baseball, which is the next step up from Coach Pitch and is made up primarily of 7-8 year olds in 2nd and 3rd grade, with some 9 year olds.

Some 8 year olds are placed into the more competitive Single A league (kid pitch), which is made up of 8-9 year olds and is the next step up from Machine Pitch. A majority of 9 year olds ordinarily play Single A, which is a kid-pitch league for 8-9 year olds and a step up from Instructional Machine Pitch. Any 9 year old can play Single A.
Double AA
Some 9 year olds will be placed into the more competitive Double AA league, which is made up of 9-10 year olds and is the next step up from Single A. Evaluations determine placement. Evaluations are held in March. Any 9 year who is not chosen for Double AA will play Single A or Machine Pitch.?
Instructional Machine Pitch
Alternatively, any 9 year old in 3rd grade (i.e. not in 4th grade) can play Instructional Machine Pitch with 7-8 year olds if they are not quite ready for Single A kid-pitch.
9U Travel
Additionally, 9 year olds can try out for the highly competitive 9U Travel Team. The Travel team is
in addition to the regular "house" (A or AA) team. Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
10 years old
Double AA
A majority of 10 year olds ordinarily play Double AA, which is a kid-pitch league for 9-10 year olds and a step up from Single A. Any 10 year old can play Double AA.
Triple AAA
Some 10 year olds will be placed into the more competitive Triple AAA league, which is primarily for 10-11 year olds, with a few 12 year olds, and is the next step up from Double AA. Evaluations determine placement. Evaluations are held in March. Any 10 year who is not chosen for Triple AAA will play Double AA.?
Majors
Exceptionally advanced 10 year olds may be offered the option to play Majors, which is primarily for 11-12 year olds, with a few 10 year olds, and is the next step up from Triple AAA. Majors is the most competitive 10-12 league. Evaluations determine placement. Evaluations are held in March. Any 10 year who is not chosen for Majors will play Triple AAA or Double AA.?
10U Travel
Additionally, 10 year olds can try out for the highly competitive 10U Travel Team. The Travel team is
in addition to the regular "house" (AA, AAA, or Majors) team. Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
11 years old
Triple AAA
A majority of 11 year olds ordinarily play Triple AAA, which is a kid-pitch league for 10-12 year olds and a step up from Double AA. Any 11 year old can play Triple AAA.
Majors
Some 11 year olds will be placed into the more competitive Majors league, which is primarily for 11-12 year olds, with a few 10 year olds, and is the next step up from Triple AAA. Majors is the most competitive 10-12 league. Evaluations determine placement. Evaluations are held in March. Any 11 year who is not chosen for Majors will play Triple AAA.
Intermediate 50/70
Additionally, 11 year olds can play Intermediate 50/70. Intermediate is mostly 12-13 year olds, with a few 11 year olds, and it is an option for kids who are ready for a field bigger than is used for AAA or Majors (50' pitching and 70' base paths vs. 46' pitching and 60' base paths).
11U Travel
Additionally, 11 year olds can try out for the highly competitive 11U Travel Team. The Travel team is
in addition to the regular "house" (AAA or Majors) team. Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
Note: It is not allowed to play all of AAA/Majors, Intermediate, and Travel.
12 year olds
Majors
A majority of 12 year olds ordinarily play Majors, which is a kid-pitch league for 10-12 year olds and a step up from Triple AAA. Majors is the most competitive 10-12 league. Any 12 year old can play Majors.
Triple AAA
Alternatively, any 12 year old who feels that they would get more out of playing at a level below Majors can play Triple AAA, made up primarily of 10-11 year olds, with a few 12 year olds.
Intermediate 50/70
Additionally, any 12 year old can play Intermediate 50/70. Intermediate is mostly 12-13 year olds, with a few 11 year olds, and it is an option for kids who are ready for a field bigger than is used for AAA or Majors (50' pitching and 70' base paths vs. 46' pitching and 60' base paths).
12U Travel
Additionally, 12 year olds can try out for the highly competitive 12U Travel Team. The Travel team is
in addition to the regular "house" (Majors or Intermediate) team. 12U Travel plays on a 50/70 field. Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
Note: It is not allowed to play all of AAA/Majors, Intermediate, and Travel.?
13 year olds
Intermediate 50/70
Intermediate is a good option for 13 year olds who aren't quite ready for the big (60/90) field. Intermediate is mostly 12-13 year olds, with a few 11 year olds.
Juniors
Juniors is a 60/90 league for 13-14 year olds. There are no cuts.
13 Travel
Any 13 year old can try out for the highly competitive 13 year old Travel Team. There is no "house" requirement for the 13 year old Travel team. 13 Travel plays on a 50/70 field. Travel teams are formed in the fall for the following spring season.
13 year olds can play a combination of leagues if they like: e.g. Travel and Juniors, etc.
14 year olds
Juniors
Juniors is a 60/90 league for 13-14 year olds. There are no cuts.
15 year olds
Seniors
Seniors is a 60/90 league for 15-16 year olds. There are no cuts.
16 year olds
Seniors
Seniors is a 60/90 league for 15-16 year olds. There are no cuts.

Softball
Softball is available to girls who are 5-16 years old (as of 12/31/2013). This section describes the leagues that are available to girls who are specifically looking for softball. Note that girls can play baseball if they want to. Also note that leagues are subject to change.

8 years old
Instructional Softball
8 year old girls will play Instructional Softball, which is for 7-8 year old girls.
9 years old
Double AA Softball
9 year old girls will play Double AA Softball, which is for 9-10 year old girls and is a step up from Instructional Softball.
9/10 Travel Softball
Additionally, 9 year olds can try out for the highly competitive 9/10 Travel Team. The Travel team is in addition to the regular "house" (Double AA) team. Travel softball teams are formed in the February/March timeframe.?
10 years old
Double AA
Any 10 year old girl can play Double AA Softball, which is for 9-10 year old girls and is a step up from Instructional Softball.
Triple AAA
